Labrador Road Construction Mobilization

Large Utility  |  Newfoundland (Goose Bay, NFLD)  |  Summer 2015

SCOPE OF WORK: Transport 20 pieces of various equipment to a project site located 3,900km away.

CHALLENGES/UNIQUENESS: Working within an extremely short timeline, A&B was able to meet the client’s requirement of mobilizing 20 pieces of various equipment, including a variety of hoes (349s – 240s), dozers (D8s and D6s), water trucks, rock trucks and several others, within four days of receiving the request for assistance for the client’s project.

Teams had to be precise and creative with strategies to meet the deadline of moving this equipment from Western Canada to the East Coast of Canada and ensure the provincial rules and regulations were met for each province that we crossed. Utilizing local capacity along the route to the project site we were able to “interline”, thereby mitigating potential delays that could have been caused by awaiting issuance of permits. Through the hard work and tireless efforts of A&B’s equipment and transportation teams, along with the engagement of local capacity along this route to the east, all equipment, shipped via trucks and rail through a myriad of weather elements, arrived at the project site within 30 days’ on time. This was an incredible achievement that contributed to the successful completion of this project.

TIME TO COMPLETE: 30 days
