Job Description:

SCOPE OF JOB:
A&B is seeking an entrepreneurial-minded candidate that will be primarily responsible for providing day-to-day operational leadership and direction for their division. This role will be accountable for planning, coordinating, directing, controlling and implementing pipeline and facility construction projects from start to finish according to schedule, specifications and budget.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible and accountable for the efficient and profitable execution of projects, including accountability for costs, revenue, scope changes, personnel and administration.
• Maintain strict adherence to A&B’s Safety and Quality Control guidelines and procedures.
• Provide leadership that results in enhancing A&B’s safe work culture, and takes on responsibility and accountability for the safety of the staff under their direction.
• Ensure the reputation of A&B is maintained at all times by promoting respectful and courteous communication and behaviour toward all clients, employees, visitors, contractors and others that may come into contact with A&B personnel.
• Provide accountable leadership for all staff, with a strong desire to provide structured, influential mentorship and ongoing personnel development.
• Assist with bids by providing input into bid strategy, planning and costing. This position will collaborate with the Estimating department to ensure complete, competitive and sustainable submissions.
• Provide support with developing the future outlook of your area of responsibility and, in conjunction with applicable departments, pursue all opportunities to secure new work.
• Identify scope of work based on bid specifications and drawings as well as manage project trends, issues and changes.
• Participate and contribute to all project related meetings including pre-bid, internal and external.
• Ensure construction milestones are met and monitor their progress against established schedules.
• Identify and record construction non-conformities and participate in their resolution.
• Allocate and supervise the activities of subcontractors and subordinate employees.
• Prepare progress reports and issue progress schedules to clients.
• Possess a thorough understanding of A&B’s project specific pricing models, billing procedures and capabilities.
• Effectively report relevant project information to superiors in a consistent manner.
• Proactively resolve or escalate issues in a timely fashion.
• Help ensure timely and accurate billing.

Preferred Skills:

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Extensive experience and a proven record of project success in a construction management role working on pipeline and facility construction projects.
• Knowledge and familiarity of regulatory requirements such as ABSA and CWB.
• Well versed in Quality Control requirements for pipeline and facility construction projects.
• Must be knowledgeable regarding CSA Z662 & B31.3.
• Completion of Construction Management Certification or related courses an asset.
• Strong leadership and development skills.
• Ability to plan and manage project schedules.
• A team player with excellent attention to detail, strong work ethic and excellent oral communication skills.
• Strong computer skills, including MS Word, Excel, scheduling software and Outlook.
• A valid driver’s license.
